Some of you may remember this big cuddle bug, Sugarloaf! Sugarloaf was on the euthanasia list due to a leg injury. We’d posted we would save him, but needed a COMMITTED foster before we could pull him. Boy did we get one! A wonderful family came forward and offered to not only foster him but sponsor his medical as well!! What a blessing this family has been to us and Sugarloaf! Forever grateful!! 💕 He was scheduled for a meet and greet on a Saturday and we were going to pick him up the Friday before, when we got a text saying “Very sorry for this late notice however we can’t let Sugarloaf go. We’d love to adopt him and have him be part of our family! Is it still an option?”

Needless to say we were thrilled! We’d been secretly hoping this would happen. He’s such a love, it would be next to impossible not to fall head over heels for this boy. Sugarloaf is and has been in his forever home, living the good life!! He will be treated like the King he is!!

Regretfully our update is a sad one. We named our sweet kitty Faith. Faith was a young girl, under two, with no microchip. Faith was not feral, just scared and in unimaginable pain. While carefully removing her from the carrier for examination, she did not protest. When we stroked her head and neck she leaned in and made biscuits with her small feet. This was amazing and brought tears of joy to our eyes. For a moment we were excited at the possibility of finding her a loving home if we could treat her. .
While awaiting the test results, the doctor took a radiograph. Our optimism was quickly shattered by reality. The news made the test results, moot... although she was negative. .
You see, sweet Faith had a cancerous tumor and probable deep bone infection. The doctor estimates this tumor had been growing for at least six months and had eroded the left sided facial bones, destroyed her eye and nasal passages. If you look closely at the radiograph, you’ll see bone fragments within the tumor. If this tumor were on her leg, we might have... but it wasn’t on her leg, or any other operable place... it was in her head, her bones, her nose, her eye... the only thing to be done was to end her obvious suffering. We didn’t send the tumor to pathology to determine what kind of cancer, because it doesn’t matter. Faith had cancer and it was killing her, slowly.

One thing you will never see us do is prolong an animal’s suffering. There was no treatment that could save her, and we weren’t going to let her hurt a minute more. To do so would have been incredibly selfish and all about us and not about her. .
Faith was not the feral cat we thought she was. No, Faith was a loving domesticated creature who belonged in a warm loving home. Was she lost or abandoned? We’ll never know. What we do know is, her last night on this earth was warm, safe and she had faith in us to show us her sweet soul and we are honored to have known her. We loved her and told her while stroking her and loving her today.

Currently awaiting a combo test to determine if FeLV or FIV positive, which will direct us how to proceed with this fella (sex still unknown). Doctor suspects a tumor or abscess with an underlying issue and kitty is definitely in severe pain. He feels humane euthanasia is best, but of course will do as we ask. .
We are proceeding with caution and determining if an underlying immune disease will impede our efforts. We will also be sexing the kitty and scan for a microchip. Donations are appreciated.
This poor cat has been suffering in silence for an untold amount of time. Fortunately his feeder reached out for help and several wonderful people rallied together and were able to secure him. He was finally secured in the feeder’s garage and literally flew off a very high shelf directly into a top loading carrier! Devine intervention?? Big thanks to our priceless volunteer @rachick3 and our friends at @armyofferals who worked together and were able to secure this baby so we can get him help! He’ll be seen by a veterinarian tomorrow. This poor kitty’s entire forehead and face is misshapen from the growth/obstruction and it’s also affecting the nasal breathing. We’ll update tomorrow on the diagnosis/prognosis.

Sadly many cats suffer in silence on the streets of our cities. This is why we are SO passionate about TNR and spaying and neutering pets. These innocent beings are born into a cruel world overrun with cats and where they can’t possibly all find quality homes! Fixing your pets may seem like a small task, but it has big ramifications. One kitty can turn into eight and eight into twenty in mere months. Please spay and neuter your pets, and if you feed feral cats please please fix them to prevent needless suffering.
